GRRRR!

I re-installed this today and wanted to play and now whenever I go to run it I get a error saying "could not write licence data contact customer support for further instructions" this really, REALLY annoys me because it's apparently something to do with the protection, yet again naff buggy and useless protection software hassles users who actually legally buy the game, yet does nothing to stop piracy who still circumvent this sort of thing even before games come out.

does anyone know what I need to do?, all I can find is a reply in the official 2k forum about the steam version and I bought my copy from a shop. I have my code on the manual, but I cant find anyway or anywhere to enter it. When I re-installed it, it didn't even ask me for the code!

To use the steam version, load up steam, then click on the "Games" menu, then select "Activate a product on Steam"
Enter the code and it should download and install the steam version for you.

thanks for the reply :)

I will do this if all else fails, but will this activate the version already on my hard drive? as I don't want to wait for hours and hours to download a full steam version when I have my version here which should work

It will not activate the version you have already installed, and yes, you will need to download it if you activate it on steam. :(

contact the copy protection ppl .. starforce i think it is ,

there is a "special" page for people to cancel previous installations and re-install with a genuine key, there is also an official fix available but it took me ages to get it .. and ive re-installed the whole pc since then .. sorry its not that helpful but i remember the annoyance when i got my collectors ed of the game when it came out and i couldnt get it working for 2 weeks.. realy spoit my b-day it did
