Some people are over spoilt with core2/8800gtx specifications tbh.
I have a 4200+ and 8800GTS and feel confident that it's going to run exceptionally well at 1680x1050 - I don't tend to go overboard with fsaa either but then again the 8800s are at home with moderate fsaa anyway
This game and Crysis are the only games to be released for the PC since HL2 to be built from the ground up specifically for the PC and being made by a dev team that puts effort into optimisations. I think the only reason people think that such a spec is low spec is because of the **** ports that have come out recently which demand ultra high end hardware to run smooth
Still will upgrade for extreme high settings in Crysis and also for Alan Wake

I'm prob going to dual-boot with Vista just so I can try DX10 in BioShock. BioShock is about the only game I've been really excited about since I was 10 or so and was looking forward to Street Fighter 2
Of course, I'm sure I'll quickly tire of the bloated and buggy OS and not be able to discern a difference in graphics quality but heyho... It's fun to try.

I agree for the most part of your post but this bit seemed a bit wrong. The devs for BioShock have repeatedly said that it's a port from 360 to PC. The very important thing that they've emphasised, though, is that it's a good port
I'm a tad worried about my old x1800xt running this at 1680-1050 but tbh with games like tib wars, overlord and graw 2 the card has proved itself as a solid performer. So kinda think this game will run great as when a game is a good port aka overlord, it runs a dream and looks gorgeous! Even at high res.
With my current PC spec (AMD 3200, 2Gb RAM & 6800GS AGP ) I think I'll be getting it on 360 even though mouse & keyboard is so much better to play with. Of course I might just not buy it until next year when I'll hopefully have a new PC .
My spec is X1900XTX, 3800+, 2GB of ram, not that great...but since I'm running my 360 through my LCD monitor I'll be able to run it at higher res with the PC version and at the optimum resolution (Stupid 360 doesn't support 1680x1050).
I'm not too bothered about control system since it's only a single player game.
