Bioshock with vista 64

Help please.

My system is E6850 @ 3.6
4GB RAM
ATI X800GT (about to be updated)

I cannot get Bioshock to work, I've even tried Xp compat mode with no luck.

Which driver or hotfix do I need please.............

It does not need XP Mode it works on Vista64.

I aint 100% sure but the Game may be like 1 or 2 others and not install unless you have a DX9C card, your Card is DX9B.

If the card doesn't support Pixel Shader 3.0 Bioshock won't run, and I'm fairly sure the X800 doesnt.

What error do you get by the way?

I'd better sort that upgrade out then

It all loads OK but when the game actually starts, the screen is all corrupted with dark patches and unrecognisable graphics, very strange. Also the mouse cursor is invisible for some reason

which is best for a cross section of games as far as compatibility is concerned.

I got Bioshock for the PC yesterday and it works fine on my rig on vista 64bit - Must be a hardware problem

8800gt without a doubt.

Definately the 8800 GT, and yeah, x800's can't do SM3.0, so Bioshock won't run properly.

EDIT: May do now ,judging by the SM2.0 conversion happening there.

as has already been mentioned, it's your card - you need shader Model 2. Get it from the link posted above

Is that some Mod by a peep or the company ?.

Either way he will enjoy the game better on his new card when it arrives, it will look and run like a POS on that old tech.
