biostar i45 does not support e5200?

Looking at the biostar web site the e5200 is not in the support list - does this sort of thing happen where particular cpu dont work? It lists e5400 as supported.
Ive seen o/c result using this cpu but could be false...confused..
 
It was cheap and available - cant get it to work though - it might be a duffer but need to test it in another board.
Been looking at bios updates but no extra cpu support is added for the last 2 updates anyhow, i just left it as it worked
 
It was cheap as selling my E2160 would have paid for it basically. It was used but not sold as seen.
Its the same board and yes, the chip went in and no boot. Tried Cmos clear which didnt work - tried using just 1 corsair ram which didnt work. Tried further resets and moving ram etc..
Put my E2160 in with the 1 corsair ram in slot and it worked fine. (It would not work with OCZ until I got in the bios and set the voltage, after that it was fine)
Tried installing and removong 3 times now with Cmos clears and ram in different slots. The E5200 just clicked off immediately at first but when it appeared it was going to post I get no reading ATALL in the error report/cpu temp readout on the mobo - its just blank and although it fires up it just does nothing except fans running and drives spinning.

When I go back to the E2160 it ok after a Cmos reset.
 
The chip looks absolutely fine. I've ran out of TIM but im going to try it in a mates P5Q just to be sure...if I do get a refund I can look at getting the E6300!! or another clockable cheap CPU.

After much reading I've found a few people who retified the problem with a new PSU.
After checking my voltages my 12v rail is 11.44v it was 11.89v when I first built the system but has gradually dropped.
Do you guys think that it at a acceptable level? (within tolerance)
 
The voltage goes up under load to 11.52v

From what I've read (100's of post about this i45) my impression is this board is fickle, with a badly written bios and doesnt like OCZ Reaper memory, not good.

I'm not happy with the mobo or the psu right now, both together is bugging me
 
Ok I tested the PSU at length today, idle and under load, PWROK etc... All voltages are within range, very accurate with no noticable deviation between idle and load.

So it's down to my mobo

Updated the BIOS anyway and new TIM has arrived. Got a couple of things to try and get it running. Going to start by setting everything at stock and locking RAM voltage to 2.1v then test it boots with E2160 with 1 stick of RAM then swap over...
 
Just getting FF fault code immediately on start-up, nothing seems to work.
Took various hardware out - still same code

Must be a dead cpu or carp mobo.

BIOS update has fixed a RAM overvolt problem and boots with different memory now. Just leaving E5200 that wont POST
