Finally got to the stage of hitting the power button and starting up my new rig - the result ... nothing, just a little red led on the mobo. Tested the PSU (working), tested the rig with one 8800GTX, checked cabling several times, nothing, no fan spin or anything.

As a last resort attempt I hit the power button with no graphics cards attached, and the fans and cpu start up. So it seems the motherboards graphics card compatability (2 of emm both tested recently so doubt the cards are faulty) is causing the problem. Anyone heard of anything like this before?

Any ideas? Cards causing a short circuit somehow?

OCZ Modstream 700W and a 650W Thermaltake Toughpower (for second card).

Seems to have been a dodgy PCI Express x16 cable that was causing the problems. Must have been creating a short circuit (somehow?).
