Hi all,

Is there a definitive answer to the "can you use dipole speakers in an Atmos setup" question?

Reason I ask is, I'm sure I had read on the Dolby website a while ago that only directional speakers can be used with Atmos, which makes sense to me in the way that Atmos is designed to work (I would guess the same is true for DTSx too).

But then I keep seeing reviews and adverts for "Dolby Atmos" speaker packages, mostly klipsch I must admit, that use a bi directional speaker as a surround/surround rear or both.

Anyone know what the bottom line is on this?

Regards

Jase.

Having owned both and still use bipoles I would say bipoles would be fine in modern home theatre if you are close to side and rear walls / speakers.

But I don't think dipoles would work as well being out of phase it's a bit too diffused.

I don't have Atmos system though
