Hello chaps, just wondering what you guys use to attract birds to the garden for photography!

When i get my new lens, i really want to get into wildlife photography and i recon birds is a good place to start!

Yeah some food is best bet. When I go to photograph the swans I take some bread with me and if you taken enough (like me) You might need to run away every now and then! :D
 
Glue on the branches of any trees/shrubs provides ample opportunity for really amazing shots.

Failing that spread bird seed over the area you want them in and add a few large pieces of bread to grab their attention. Spread the seed quite thin so they have to search for it, gives you longer to get the shot before they take off.

I really want to get some unusual birds in the garden, we only have the usuals atm.

Invite them over for a bar-b-que or if you have a swimming pool/sauna in your backyard invite them for a free swim.

And EVERYTHING likes sunflower hearts, the best feed to get, I get though 5kg a week of it now :D
 
hehe, I have returned from work, and i popped into the pet shop next door, and bough 2 bags of sunflower hearts and a bag of Niger Seed, So i have topped up the bird feeders etc :D
