If anyone that is familiar with Birmingham Airport or has picked anyone up from there could you help me out?

I have to pick up my mum and sis next week from the airport but looking at google maps i am struggling to find where the pickup area is. There seems to be car parks 1, 2 and 3 which say Pickup on the signs surrounding but then they seem to go to the NCP car parks and i am unable to see a pickup area.

Also I will be traveling from Derby so A38. past the Belfry and M42 (Missing M6 toll if possible) is there a services close to the airport that i can parkup until they land so i can make my way towards them for a quick pickup.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Great thanks for the info everyone. Looks like I might not need it now as they might be heading home on Sunday and flying into Bristol and my older sister is going to pick them up. If that changes I will certainly use the tips.

Thanks Everyone for the advice. I think i am going to pick them up from Birmingham International Station looks like you can get 20 mins free so will find somewhere near by to park up and then they can call me when on the monorail and i can head towards them. Any recommendations on where to park nearby? Is there a maccys, costa, starbucks or services within 10 mins of the station?

BTW it will be 6.30am if that makes a difference.

Also is there any facility to put luggage trolleys on the monorail?

Why go to this extra hassle?

Just use the free pick up area near the airport entrance that we have told you about, a few minutes walk from the terminals.

Apologies, from what i have seen that car park shows its a drop off point not a pickup area.

So can i park up there, walk to the terminal and then walk back and drive off? If its 20 mins its free, above that its £1, £3 etc?

Brilliant, thanks for your help. Just what i wanted. Hopefully there will be somewhere i can get a coffee in the morning while waiting for them to call me to come and pick them up. :)

Ah looks like there is a Mcdonalds and Asda just round the corner on Coventry Rd Yardley so nice and straight little run :)

Thanks for that. I will be about 7am this Friday so hopefully will be a bit quiet with the Bank Holiday. Will get them to call me once they have got their luggage and through customs etc then they can walk to the drop off point and i will leave maccys and should be there in about 10 mins.

I did notice the red and yellow parts on the Coventry Road map for traffic but hopefully should be fine early(ish) in the morning.

Those charges are the drop off prices. You parked in a long stay car park.

Have you noticed that the BP garage outside EMA you can get fined for parking there without filling up and not leaving immediately? As people took the **** and used that for pick up point.
This has been in the Derby Telegraph for years, people getting fined just turning in the petrol station getting fined and i seem to recall someone getting fined for using the petrol station to buy something but not petrol and they got a fine. I think it was about 15-20 years ago that used to be a common drop off point and they just got annoyed and started imposing silly fines.

If you are picking someone up from EMA just wait at the services on the A453 island and get them to call once they are ready to pickup then its 5 mins to the short term car park.

That said the services price is hideous, i remember coming back from Northampton with my sister a couple of years back and had a pastie from the place in that services.. It was about £8!!! For a PASTY!!!

Yeah, I used to work just down the road and we'd do fish & chip Friday in the boardroom every week :D The butcher next door does fantastic hog roast rolls as well, loads of stuffing and dripping with gravy /drool
Good job it’s bank holiday or I could see trying to convince them to stay around the airport rather than driving back to derby not going down well at all.

I ended up parking in the multi story a couple of mins walk away. Think it was about 6 quid iirc but could have been more. My mum and sister did say though that if you can get a good idea of time they will be out of arrivals then the vip collection/dropoff would have been about the same price but not as flexible however is right outside the arrivals entrance.
