Birmingham Nightlife

I'm there now in the centre as i write, lets see:

Near me is Broad St., the main club stretch, found in the city centre. This is Soho of Birmingham, all the big clubs and bars, can be expensive in places, but no more than any other club. The Works is the biggest club i've ever seen, with more rooms than staff.

The waterfront: Based near Merryhill, it's a favourite of mine and i'd regard it as a flawless night out, i've heard of nothing but "amazing" out of people. As the name suggests, it's a stretch of bars and clubs along the canalside, and is almost like a platform game, starting with cheaper pubs, working the way upto the clubs. Overall, is cheap too.

Plenty of other places around city centre too, with Jongleurs comedy club, The rocket gentlemans club and various themed clubs. Most of these are within walking reach of Birmingham New St. Station.

Broad st. is how you take it and who with. If everyones up for a good time and theres a group of you, like for me couple months back, it's quality (though i personally think the big clubs are a ripoff). However, just a couple of you, it's over-whelming and you should goto Brierly hill/Dudley way for Waterfront, though it's a bugger to get to.

It has kicked of big style the last 2 or 3 times I have been there, also there is a hugely obvious tension between the chav drinkers and the gangs of asians cruising about in their dad's Mercs

avoid Broad St

It's the incarnation of Hell on Earth. Full of identi-clad idiots hell bent on destroying what remains of their tiny brains and fighting anything/anyone that gets in their way. It is a den for some of truly hopeless causes of this world

Fixed for accuracy;)

Broad St is good if you want a fight. A load of places are boarded up now, and it's just, well, crap really.

Brindley Place has some nice bars and resturants and is next to Broad St.

.

Brindley place is much nicer than the main drag of Broad St

Oh yeh, that's true. It kicked off in the chicken place last time now i remember, chips flying everywhere, but i was too smashed to notice!

The asian cruisers though, how annoying, sean paul blaring out, stupidly shiny alloys and if they are wlaking down street in the gangs, they just start on you lol.

If you're into cheesey music, stereotypical bars/clubs then Broad St might be a laugh for you.
IMO, Broad St is absolutley terrible. There are maybe one or two ok places there at tops but by and large the place is full of complete ******* looking for trouble in my experience.

My votes go to, in order:

The Arcadian,
Brindley Place,
Summer Row

I'd vote you scrap the idea of going to Birmingham and go to Wolverhampton instead. Been to Bham twice and it was crap both times, all the clubs were filthy and full of types you wouldn't usually want to be near. Wolverhampton's far cleaner, with better bars and less chavvy people.

Agreed, and there are plenty of interesting pubs/clubs around the city centre generally without having to resort to Broad Street. St. Pauls square seemed OK when I was last there, and The Wellington is worth a visit if you like your ales.

If the Arcadian is the area with restaurants and bars in a sort of circle/triangle thing (i was merry) then i would recommend it. Also birmingham ladies are quite... easy to get on with.
