Birthday what digital camera £500 ?

Birthday next week and looking for a new camera
Ordered the e1 on apples site but as this may never arrive looking for something.
d50 looks good, and the minolta a2 is a bargain but there is so much conflicting advice. suggestions very welcome.

well orderd a g6 but!

they cancelled the order! gave them one more chance and a d50 plus a 1gig sd card is on its way £420 all in

d 50 arrived

the day before my birthday very happy with it so far,
looking for a longer lens now, would like the 10 - 20 zoom but going for £250 second hand while a 70 210 is less than £100

having fun with it, brought a sigma 70 210 apo on ebay as sharp as the kit lens
trying out nikon capture atm dissapointed you cannot use as motion sensor to fire the shutter.
