At last my Birthday is here and I can buy my PC! Just a final spec check please if people could be so kind :)

I plan on having the SSD as a boot \ mmo games drive then the F3's in raid 0 for the FPS games etc. Then I have a 2TB drive for storage (which I have).

I play wow (multibox running 2-5 clients at once) + waiting on the bioware games of the year and starcraft 2 diablo 3 when they are out.

I want to over clock the i7 as far as I can get it. Would have liked to save some money off my build but I have fallen in love with that case.. I have a atec 900 and hate it dont know if they improved it a lot in the 902.. Will look at others if they have good cable managment.

Can people add things like fans and thermal paste as I am out of touch with what little things I may need like power extenders etc? I want to run as cool and as quite as possible.

Any changes of views are very welcome!

Thanks!

You might struggle fitting those drives and the 5850, let alone a 5870 in the 900 or 902. I've got 4 hard drives in mine, and I struggled to fit the 5850 in due to sata cables getting in the way.

A HAF 922 might be worth a look, there very spacious, and have excellent cable management.

i personally would get the case.

in the future you will need more space and while you have got the money to get it i would buy it now and save up for another card in the future.

the case is the most important part of a build in my honest view.

The case is probably the most important bit, I tend to keep cases through several generations of kit so deffo get what you really want.

I think your hard drive list is all wrong though..

If you want an SSD for fast boot and general apps then you only need a 30GB but a 60GB isn't so bad.

Putting your games on another drive is pointless and frankly RAIDing mechanical drives is pretty pointless when you've got an SSD, they'll still feel slow in comparison and you introduce the possibility of losing all your data.

If it were me I'd (well I have done this actually! lol) RAID0 2 SSDs for all your apps and OS, that way everything is nice and snappy then just use your 2TB storage for just that.. So I have movies/music etc on a slow mechanical drive and everything else on the RAID SSDs.

Bit pricey but so fast its crazy.. Never tried just 1 SSD, mine are quite early so it wouldn't surprise me if 1 new one was as fast. I normally have 3 or 4 games installed and the OS/apps and I'm halfway though the 128GB capacity.. 60/100GB would be fine.

Stick with your build mate, can't go wrong with that!
You won't need the 3.5" to 2.5" converter as the hot swap bays are made for ssd's :)
Stick with the 5850, and simply flash bios to asus's and then oc :D
You will have to change the fans in the case; 2 140mm; 3 120mm and push/pull on h50

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Issue is I dont think I can afford to raid 0 SSD's only really looking at them as there is a promo and I dont think I can buy 2 of them. I thought I would put as many games as possible on the SSD but as I play MMO's the installs are 20GB + so can't fit them all on it. Maybe I would be best droppinging the SSd and keeping the F3 in raid 0 till I can afford a better set of SSD's ?

Will have a look at the HAF 922 and see if I like it as I do think case is a bit much but I have seen so many good reviews it seems hard to ignore.

Can someone point me at \ explain about changing fans and the push pull please? What I need etc.

Thanks loads really helping as its always nice to see what others would do :)

Happy Birthday.:)

Go for a 100 or 128G SSD, the space fills fast, and it's good practice to leave at least 10% ro 20% free for speed because of the way TRIM works.

Its hard as the 100-128GB SSd's are £300 thats double what I would normally pay for a harddrive. Thought I could just about push £140 as they are really quick but soon as you try and get anything over 60-80GB they whoop in price. I could drop the case for a 922 and pick up an SSD but I am not 100% sure I like the 922 a bit glowy for me.

Want something with loads of space looks smart rather than "pr0 gamer" and has a good cable system.

Thanks though I think I am almost there is just the ratio of case Vs hard drive now :)

You get a full system for your birthday? Last thing i got on mine was 6 pairs of socks!!!! :P

The silverstone Fortress case's look nice and roomy for a good deal less £££, or you could go with an Antec 902 or even a 1200, the rest looks fine to me.

Will check the cases people spoke about. Any more for me to check out would be great. I get some money for my b-day and xmas rest i have to credit card and cry about later :p

I am still not totally sold on the SSD's so going to take anotehr couple of days to look at them. I just think I am not used to spending more money on hard drive than graphics card.

So after looking over your comments what do people think of this revised spec...

Also is the mobo good or get an asus ? Cheaper etc ?
