Hi guys... I reported a while ago that I had severe backlight issues 2005fpw. I rang up dell and told them and they said I needed to ring back with serial number. I went away for a few weeks and came back and rang up Dell again and spoke to a chap in Ireland who confirmed that if I ring up with the serial number they would send me a brand new rather than refurb monitor as I reported the problem within 30 days of receiving the monitor.... so last week I rang them again to give them my serial number but I was put through to the Indian call centre and to say it was a chore to sort out is an understatement. The Irish guy had given me a ref number foe the case which had all my info on it but the guy in India took the ref number but still wanted all my details again which I had to repeat each one about 10 times too.... and when he read back numbers and addresses I had read to them he had taken them down wrong... altogether I was speaking to him for an hour trying to sort it. He said that my unit will be sent within 7-10 days. Tomorrow is the 7th day. But I am wondering if there is supposed to be an e-mail confirming this whole return? I haven't received one. I am worried that he had taken info down wrong.
Is there a direct line to the Irish dept. so I can confirm this whole return has gone through okay?

Ive gone through all of that, got new monitor fine ... but they never took the old one! they ring up everyweek saying that they still havn't got the monitor, give us a date and then dont turn up.

erm this exact thing has just happened today.... The wife has just rung up saying the new monitor has been dropped off at the next door neighbours house as the wife was out. So now I am left with two monitors. She says the box is a different shape. Would they have sent me a 2007FPW? by any chance?
Are they likely to chase me up? and get arsey with me?

jesus..... just got the call from Dell... they have rearranged pickup of my old monitor..
think I have a reason for the box being a different shape, the woman on the phone said 'I need to reaarange collection of your 24" monitor'
it seems they have sent me the 24" instead of the 20" even though I gave them the serial number of my 20"...

might be my lucky day ;)

sounds about right. Phoning up a UK call center to get credit card authorizations takes about 2 minutes. Indian call centers take 5-15minutes, and it sure does **** the customers off......

But then profit is all that matters, and if you can pay some indian to do it for £2 an hour then i guess every company and his dog is going to do it :(

yup... it really infuriates me and I might not have the best clarity in my voice but having to read out important lengthy numbers was so frustrating... I would rather have one of those automated voice recognition things to be honest.

ah well.... it was a 20" they left for me after all... the wifes eyesight is playing up..

When the delivery guy picks it up what will he do? Will he need to examine the monitor I give back and give me paperwork? Just need to let the wife know what to expect... Will he need to check serial numbers or anything?
