Hi guys,

First time I've really ventured into this part of OcUK and typical that it's only when I'm after some advice.

I am currently with PlusNet and have very recently been upgraded from a standard 1Mb service, to a DSLMax "Up to 8Mb" connection. Unfortunately this is where the problems started, though for this post, I'll concentrate on the main one.

Our router (A Netgear DG834) is on a fairly regular basis, dropping the line all together, or resyncing the line speed. Now I'm fully aware of the 10 day "training" period, so in all honesty, I was kinda expecting it. I just wish it wasn't as frequent as every 30 minutes - 1 hour.
Can I expect this to stablise after the 10 days? It's currently bouncing around 2300kbps - 2500kbps. Enough of an upgrade from the 1Mb for me to be happy.
Is it likely to set around 2Mb and hold there? I'm aware that DSLMax constantly tries to get the fastest speed at a stable sync, but will it work out that around 2Mb is stable?

Thanks for any advice! :)

I've had EXACTLY the same problem.

I upgraded to the latest beta firmware, the V3.01.31 which has helped somewhat.

Before I couldn't go a few hours without a disconnect, now I can manage about 20 :p

It's certainly not perfect, but it's better

Hmm, wouldn't have a link to said beta firmware would you?

Have to admit though, I shouldn't really have to use beta software to get a stable connection.

If you're losing sync frequently, you might find the DLM steps in and turns up your target SNR margin and/or turns on interleaving, but it isn't going to happen when the 10 days are up. The "training period" is purely for collecting data.

I'm still waiting for my PlusNet upgrade..... I think they advised me that it would be happening about 9 months ago !! muppets

Hi Memphis

If you are still having the droput after the 10 day DLM the first thing I would check is your micro filters as I have know people that had a perfect 512K or 1Mb service and then gone to Max and had disconnection problems and it turned out they had a dodgy filter.

Best thing to do would be first spend 5 mins going round and double check that everything has a filter plugged if they do then remove everything from the line and connect the router to your master socket so only the router is connected to your phone line iv a filter and nothing else and try the filters one by one and see if you start getting disconnections with any of them.

If you are still having probs then let me know.
