Hi again guys

I have my Q6600 running at 3.0ghz with a huge Venom cooler. Temps are awesome ie 33 idle and about 50ish under prime.

My memory is DDR2 4gb dual channel 800mhz, which is overclocked I think from memory to 833 I think to reach 3.0ghz on CPU. To get 3.6ghz out of the Q6600 my memory would have to be 1000. Is that safe or to much of a boost?

Also I have the hd5830 which I really like so far, I was thinking of overclocking this but only with the supplied ATi software, I think its called overdrive? Is this worth doing, also is it even worth me going from 3.0 to 3.6 on the Q6600?

I have seen on some forums once you get the Q6600 upto 3.0ghz anything above does not really boost much.

Also my Q6600 is at stock volts atm. It has never been overclocked before so has been running stock since new, apart from my 3.0 overclock the past 2-3 months. Or am I better off getting memory that is faster, I think my mobo will take faster ram.

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

I rebooted and checked my bios just to double check my settings. This is for 3.0ghz

Cpu ratio is x9
Host Freq is 333
Memory Freq is 800 833

Soon as I raise the Host Freq to get more speed from the CPU the memory auto raises. At the moment its as said above 833 for the 3.0ghz. I dont want to fry my ram you see so unsure if going higher is safe.

I ran coretemp and checked the VID while running prime and that says 1.3250v (same as your old Q6600). 1.1625v idle I think I did at one point play with voltage and got it as low as possible and running stable.

I will check out MSI thanks for that. :)

Cheers
