So last night I went to plug in some new headphones I'd bought, usb connection for the power when suddenly the pc just shut off.....cue me in a panic.

I made sure the power lead was in properly after moving my pc forward a little, but still no power at all. That's when the wife says check the fuse in the main plug, so I did and it had blown. Is it coincidence that it blew as I plugged in said headset or did the headset trigger it. Psu is a coolermaster silent pro gold 1000w.

After changing fuse the headset work fine......I hate electricity lol

Could be coincidence, could also be a damaged usb socket. I had this before where the inside of a usb socket had become damaged and everytime a device was plugged into it, it shorted causing the computer to shutdown.

Sounds like you have a dangerous electrical short. Either your motherboard/usb socket is touching the case exterior or the USB socket is broken. You may want to think about going back to basics and re-seating the motherboard.

Well i changed the fuse and it's all running fine, tried wobbling the socket and board to try it again but all seems fine now.
