Bit of a problem with overclocking q6600

I'm using the asus monitoring tool that came with my p5k-3 mobo, and have also tried cpuz but both are saying my muliplier is 6, now as it stands the FSB is set at stock 266 mhz and even when i try to overclock (and set the muliplier to what i thought it should be; 9) the tools still say its at 6.

Now i hope i'm making some sense because from what i can see, out of the box this cpu is running at 1.8 ghz?!

Definatly sounds like the problem! just make sure after you disable speedstep you then set it to 9 as it may still be set to 6.

I have the same problem, vista problem methinks! Stays at x6 under load unless i disable speedstep.
