Hi,

I am after bit of advice about alternative technolgies that I could use for one the projects I am currently working on has fallen victim to some inter office politics.

I have been redeveloping the current MS Access based application we have to manage the attraction assement scheme that we run. My plan was to redevelop it as a SQL Server database with an ASP .NET interface.

I am a sql server dba and am not a .net developer as such but wanted to use this project as a means to get more used to it.

However the chap that manages a certain subset of our apps that are looked after by an outsourced team in india got wind of me doing .net developemnt and has taken exception to this and gone to the head of department. The upshot is that I am not allowed to use .net as the interface anymore.

Other than new Access front end with the data in SQl server, or data in sql server with excel templates for new attractions to be created and Sql Server Reporting Services reports to view data in the system.

Are there any other ways to implement the interface that you can think of?

All our other bespoke apps are .net just for some reason I am not allowed to use .net as this particular person who is completely non technical has thrown a strop that they where not consulted about the redev of this current system.

My CTO who is also non technical is the person that said no .net after this other person went to see him. The platform that has been suggested as an alternative is Excel templates.
