Bit of advice over use of images

Just after some advice over this, my other half used to dry hire a venue and built up a wedding business there, the venue then decided to shut her out and let another firm in, this new firm is now trying desperately to pass themselves off as the previous wedding business.

Now, there have been many photographers on site over the years so many pictures of the weddings my wife has run. One of the photographers has given the new firm permission to use all of their images on their website and other advertising. I understand that the photographer has the rights to their own images but where does this stand with the new firm, false advertising or something surely since it is another company's work in the pictures?

The venue grounds are open to the public but the actual wedding event is private.

Just wondering where I'd stand.

The photographer may have rights to the images, but the wedding business has rights to the intellectual property contained within those photographs - i.e. how the event is designed, decorated, arranged etc etc. If another company is trying to pretend this is their work, then this is "passing off" and subject to legal restrictions.

Good news that the photographer is taking action, but I would keep a close eye to make sure they don't simply replace the images with another set they shouldn't be using.
