I current have a q6600, IP35, and 4gb OCZ HTC Reaper 8500 Ram

Now the whole CPU overclocking aspect, I understand perfectly.

But it seems I'm forced to keep my ram at around 950mhz (depends on what my FSB is, I've been playing with all sorts of different speeds to find the best speed/temp trade-off)

Now, I was under the impression my ram should do nearly 1200mhz? Do I need to up the voltage to achieve a higher clock on my ram? Or would I be better keeping my ram at a lower clock, and improving the timings? If so, to what, and do I need to adjust the voltage for this?

I've also seen people knocking their multiplier down to 8 and increasing the FSB even more, what is the advantage to this, is it anything to do with the Ram multiplier?

I hope I'm not asking a particularly common question, I did attempt a search, to no (specific) avail.

i have the same as you (i have the 6400 reaper)

you got to edit the FSB:DRAM ratio...

from memory there is 1:1 / 1:1.2 / 1:1.25 and 1:1.5

i think its better to get higher mhz ram than lower timings.

i believe people using lower multi's is to get better ram mhz (ie the ratio is not loose and jumps in big steps etc.. and they cant run 4ghz cpu to make the ram speed good..

to better answer your question.. what mhz ram/cpu do you want?

and as for ram voltage, set it to 2.1volts

to help i'll put my settings = 400FSB X 9 = 3.6ghz, and ram is on ratio of 1:1.25 so ram is running at 1000mhz @ 5-5-5-18 9 (ive got 6400 reaper)

I'm aware of the RAM Multiplier ratio.

I've tried upping the ram, it doesn't seem stable at anything over 1000mhz, and often won't even post.

I'll try upping the voltage. I wasn't sure on what was safe for voltage, thanks.
