Hi,

Im going to be building my first gaming computer and I wanted some advice about what graphics set up i should get. I was initially going to get two XFX 5870s in crossfire, will this set up be worth it for very high end gaming is it it worth it to go up to a single 5970.

My budget for graphics cards is about £400 to £450, and I was hoping to also stay with ATI graphics cards.

If anyone can give me a bit of advice I would be very grateful.

Cheers

Naz

If you want to stay with ATI I would get 2 x 6950's. The scale very well and will easily beat a GTX580 in most games and come close to GTX580 SLI.

Also if you want extra free performance you can can flash the bios on most to a 6970.

I will be getting a 2nd one in a couple of months.

Read this review for the xfire benchmarks.

If you're not in a desperate rush, ATi are due to be releasing the 5970 replacement, the 6990, some time soon - due in 1Q 2011 apparently.

If you can't wait, then take maximusmi2's advice.
