So I was working on my PC a couple of weeks ago and I get the dreaded blue screen of death. OK I thought, that's odd, my PC is probably around 5 years old now and I've never had problems before.
Anyway it rebooted fine and I carried on working and then it happened again. But this time it wouldn't boot back up.
It didn't seem to do any BIOS checks and didn't beep, it sounded like the cd drive kept trying to spin up and then failed
Fast forward to today and I thought I'd have a look at it and I had the same problem this morning.
I removed the GFX card, same problem. I removed the CD drive, same problem.
I then changed the motherboard battery, I don't know why as this wouldn't cause the PC to crash or prevent it from booting, but hey presto I tried it again and everything is working fine again!
I would've thought a problem like this is indicative of a bad/unstable power supply. But the machine has been on for a while now and has been rebooted several times and seems to be working OK now!
Any ideas, or has anyone had similar problems?
Cheers
