Bit of "Follow Freeman" advice needed....

I am wanting to play through the single player of the original Half Life 2 with a mate of mine and I understand "Follow Freeman 2.90" is the best mod out there for it?
Anyway, I've downloaded it but have no idea where to put the folders, the readme text file says copy it to a "source" folder and I'm fairly sure all I have is a steam folder????

Any assistance will be welcome chaps....

Does this mod let you play hl2 sp in co-op online?

You can also play Hl2 sp coop online in Synergy if you have that mod

(I recently did this with a friend).

Anyone know which out of the Synergy mod or Floow Freeman is the best to simply play through the original HL2 with 2 or 3 people in co-op mode??

Also, it really has to be lan playable (or Hamachi) as I dont really want to rely on a server - is this possible?

Not sure about Follow Freeman but Snergy servers automatically start on lan mode. Me and my friend found it easy to pickup and play, just remember to look at the console before you start a mission to check the map name

which map is it for whole of HL2 campaign with 2 of us over lan or net? I have a server so no problems just wondered...
