I have an Asus P6X58D-E and many have told me my system is unstable and i should flash the BIOS. Maybe i'm just blind, but i can't seem to find the correct page in the manual about flashing. Could someone with this mobo give me a true idiots' guide to flashing please? Either that or just point me to the correct page on the manual!

I have NEVER flashed ANYTHING before!

Thanks

You need to go to the Asus website and download the latest BIOS for your motherboard. Once you have the bios file you then need to flash it.

Flashing can be done reliably within windows on newer motherboards but on older ones it's usually advisable to use a boot disk even if there is windows software available.

You basically make an old style windows boot disk either on a floppy disk or it can be done with a usb drive and put the bios file on it as well along with an exe file that Asus will provide.

You then restart your PC with your new disk and then you may need to manually type out a command or it will do it automatically via an autoexec.bat file. This will then update your BIOS to the new version. Keep the disk handy for future bios updates.
