Bite too high on clutch

Starting to get annoyed with how high the bite is on my clutch, I prefer cars with an almost instantaneous bite. I'm wondering if this is just a trait of my car or the clutch is badly worn and needs replacing?.

I believe the car is on the original clutch, how long do clutches typically last?

The car has done 50k

If I have the clutch changed will it sort out the bite?

Should be nowhere near needing a new clutch at 50k. If it is then it further highlights the pointlessness of buying low mileage cars.

My clio has a high biting point and is quite hard to hold down - two factors that equal sore legs in stop start traffic lol

Yes this is why It annoys me, having to keep my foot balanced just before the bite is getting frustrating.

Can the bite be adjusted in any way?

Have you driven another Focus to see where the bite point is on that?

Can't you adjust it? I know (as i did it) on my Astra, on the clutch cable was an adjustor before it went into/onto the gearbox, was easy to adjust it to what was comfortable.

The previous owner he had it could have been used mainly around towns with lots of starting and stopping? my old 1.4 clutch was shot and it had only done 34k, now my new 1.8 has just done 97k and it's perfect, still on original clutch, but 94k of that is motorway miles

my old mondeo the bite was always pretty high, clutch only had about 10k on when i bought it.

Not sure if you can adjust them on the Focus, but that would be good if I could.

I'm sure the Focus is auto adjusting. Bite on my Mondeo has been high for 50k miles.

stupid thing but if its a cable clutch on unhook and reconnect the cable.

I had an old escort and the bite used to go very low every few weeks but this sorted it

mmm interesting, i got focus 2002 1.6 zetec, now is nearly 51k miles, i also noticed the clutch bit is high..........

All the fords i've had (All but 3 of my cars have been fords) have had high clutches.

Its when its low you need to worry as its knackered.

It's annoying, high clutch is a frustration around town and even more so when you want to drive a little spirited.

I don't like the bite on it even though I am used to it having had the car for nearly a year and a half...

Sorry, i assumed you must regually use another car with a low bite and the high bite annoyed you when you swapped over
