I'm trying to get some bitfenix alchemy 2.0 CRS Green psu cables, but can't seem to find them anywhere (amazon/ebay/here etc). :(

My question is the kits for other PSUs like BQT/XFX/EVG etc are in stock in green, and the only difference I can see is what cables are included in the bundle? The CRS is the most expensive but seems to include the most cables.

Annoyingly, the same price, but includes fewer cables, but instock! I don't need 2x 24pin motherboard connectors, so one less of them and one Sata power cable less and it's the same cables? right?

Think I may have found the answer to my own question - The 24 pin connectors are all different on the PSU ends. For some reason all the PSU makers have different pin configs of their motherboard connectors, ranging from single 18 pin, to 10+18, and everything in between :(

Currently, a Corsair AX850, but I'm replacing it with either a AX860i or AX1200i. All the PSU makers seem to have unique pin configurations for their 24 pin supply. I may have sourced a green one from LamdaTek, who say it's despatched, so hopefully it's on it's way. I even emailed Bitfenix asking them to supply a UK reseller who had stock, but haven't had a reply, though it is the weekend.

The problem there is that those psu's are different oem's so they will have different pin outs. The AX850 is built by Seasonic while the AX860i and AX1200i are both built by Flextronics. Is the AX 850 faulty or some other reason to replace it?

Not faulty per se, but it does make a slightly audible mouse squeak when there's any HDD activity (I have 2 SSDs only), which is a tad annoying. I'm figuring an 860i with it's DSP may not suffer the same annoyance. Weirdly, it's partially remedied by turning off various CPU power saving features like speedstep and C states. So now my 3930K idles at 4.5Ghz constantly, not entirely ideal.

Plus it's even harder to find green cables for an older PSU!

I like corsair as a brand, I generally buy their ram, I've had no problem with my 850 other than the minor one mentioned, they have a dsp and very high efficiency, and corsair link software works well with an i model. Did you have something else in mind, or some warning about them?

No warning no, they are quite expensive for what they are though. The EVGA P2 850W is quite a lot cheaper with a longer warranty. Even Corsair's own RMx has a 7-year warranty, the same as AX860i

Fair enough if you want to stick to Corsair though!

You may have missed Corsair recently announced their warranties will now be 10 years, and will cover PSUs already bought, which is decent of them. I rate EVGA, but then again, go with what you know ;)

Ah, I didn't know that - pretty good to increase the warranty
Guess they were loosing sales to the EVGA 10 yr warranty units!
