BitFenix fans

Haha, cheers mate, good job I asked first. Ive just had a look at the Zaward range, is it worth me spending the extra on these?

Nah, it's just that they had some on offer for £2.99 a little while ago. Couldn't argue for that price.
They're decent fans though.

I'd probably spend an extra £1.60 on these:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Noiseblocker BlackSilent Fan XLP Fan - 120mm PWM £8.59
Total : £11.57 (includes shipping : £2.48).

You won't need 2000rpm (and they won't be silent at that speed!), but since they're PWM, you can use either your bios or ET6 software on your mobo to set how fast they go according to your temps.

Or just get the Arctics I linked earlier. Good budget fans that perform well enough.

I'm not sure if my mobo supports PWM, from memory they're all 3 pin connectors.

Ah, bugger...

Perhaps these in that case. Not heard much about them, but they look capable enough and have speed options using voltage reducers.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Lepa LP70D12R Multi Speed 120mm Fan £7.99
Total : £10.27 (includes shipping : £1.90).

Lol true that! Even the spectre pro ain't great.

I hear that. Got the standard spectres included with my old Shinobi and thought they were awful, then I got the spectre pro's and they were crap too :D

As the price is starting to creep up now, would I be better to say sod it and just go for the AF120's? They work out at £12.50 each and everyone seems to spec them.
I'm on mobile so can't check at the moment, does anyone know if they are 3 or 4 pin?
Thanks

Yeah, sure. Though I don't think they're anything really special apart from looking nice.
They get specced because everyone loves corsair and they're pretty :)

They're 3pin.

That doesn't help now, I thought they were considered the best.

Right, let's start again, what would you consider the best for airflow and silence? I don't have a fan controller and the mobo is 3pin. I'd like to order at lunch time.

Thanks for the patience.

The SP120's are good fans.

So are the Noctua NF P12's

The NF P12's are better, though there are obvously draw backs. (ive had both P12's and SP120's)

The Apaches are highly rated fans as are the GT's (Gentle typhoon's)

These are All £10-£15+ per fan though.

That doesn't help now, I thought they were considered the best.

There's nothing wrong them, it's just that people buy them for almost the same reason that they automatically buy Corsair Vengeance ram.
It's no better than other ram, it's just the brand factor that swings it and people think corsair are super special for some reason (Ok, they have a pretty good RMA policy).

In the case of the AF120's, like I said they do look nice and perform well enough. Having interchangeable colour rings is their major selling point and it's a very good one.
Just don't fall for the 'they're the best' stuff that seems to go hand in hand with corsair products in general as it just isn't true.

Wow, that seems like a bit of a rant lol. It's just my opinion at the end of the day :)

What would I go for in your case if the price wasn't an issue? Scythe GT1450's or the Noctua's that Doom mentioned.
The Scythe's (and most of the fans that Doom spoke of) are generally meant for restricted areas like rads and pushing through drive bay cages etc, but they're great for airflow too.

Failing that, and to save some cash, I'd probably just take the Noiseblocker XL2 fans or the Lepa's that I specced originally as they'll easily do the job with pretty minimal noise and cost.

It's not really a critical application that requires the best of the best tbh.

Thanks for all the help. I'll make my mind up soon and make the order

An old Antec P182.
I modified the lower front section to fit another fan in there, now the HDD bay doesn't fit :( Gaffa tape has done the job for the time being, think I'll be looking for another case soon.
