Hi Guys!

It's almost been a year since we've released out Alchemy cables, and boy has it been an interesting year. The tightest weave was one thing, but no heat shrink was another.

We know they're not perfect, so we're looking for feedback from you, the community. What do YOU want from our cables?
I've snooped a couple of forums, and things I've come up with is:
-longer sata cables
-pci 6+2 pins instead of 8 pin.
-right angle connectors?

Of course, this list could go on and on and on, but enough about what I've come up with. Lets hear it from you. What do you want to see from us? What's missing from our line up?

Another question I would like to ask, is "If you were to buy a set of cables, what are the most necessary set for you?" Another way of wording it would be "What would your perfect bundle of Alchemy cables look like?"

I'd also like to mention that any feedback on our existing cables are more than welcomed.

P.S Don't think that we won't implement some of these changes. I wouldn't be asking if we won't be improving :D

I'm thinking of buying some of these cables but I'm currently torn between blue, white or black. Not sure of what to go for. I'll be sure to give some feed back when I can thuogh. Also while I have the chance have BitFenix stopped making the standard Spectre Fans (not Pro).

What's wrong with them? They're perfectly good case fans.

and what do you mean your cables have huge capacitors? If you look on your motherboard, those found battery-like towers are capacitors... Not sure what you mean there...

I assume this is for me :)

The ocz zx 850w has large capacitors underneath the heatshrink at the motherboard-end of the 24pin modular cable. I suppose you could sleeve it but as a consumer I'd still want an extension to hide the capacitor part anyway.

Anyway, I'm not sure how easy it is to start producing compatible cables for psus, but I'm guessing corsair and ocz will be 2 brands that (if it's within their power?) may not approve bitfenix cables, as corsair have their own indi braded cables coming out, and ocz have just announced the fatality 1000w with indi braided cables, so looks like they're looking into it too..
Those aren't capacitors. They're rubber, to keep durability of the cables.
This would be considered a capacitor(s) http://www.kpcomponents.ca/images/450V-Capacitor.jpg
It is impossible to put capacitors, on wires like that.
I want some purple cables!.

Also, i would like to buy some sets perhaps a couple of case fans and a set of the usual extentions that you would need to make a nice custom build and sell them in a pack I would buy that for sure. You could make some nice different colour options with that idea also.
Cables and fans are two different things. It is not practical to sell things to a niche market. One may want fans, but not cables, vice versa. Creating bundles is a very dangerous move because of this reason. If they were the same category, maybe a different story. But these are 2 different product.
If you bought accessories for your van, would you package a spoiler with your air filters?
You could do a bundle set of braided cables?

1X 24 pin ATX
1X 8pin ATX
2X 6+2 pin PCI-E
2X SATA data and power cables.

Package it all up in one box.
That is what I'm asking. What would the typical user have as a bundle. This looks good.

Longer sata cables would be nice, as would sata power extensions. The quality of the braid is outstanding, nice and flexible. And unlike other extensions ive used, when bent they stay bent.
Thanks!
I WOULD LOVE FOR you guys to make your own PSU, with fully braided cables, or Do a starter pack which contains a
6 pin PCIE braided cable
6+2 pin PCIE braided cable
24 pin mobo power cable
8 pin CPU power cable - 50 CM long for people who have XL ATX cases such as the xigmatex cases
and 2 sata braided cables - 50 CM LONG ! and you could do a promo buy this PSU and get this for half price or 10 percent off ?!?
Our current 8pins are 45CM long... I can't see any case that needs anything longer than 45cm...
rjkoneill is right, a modular kit for most PSU's would just be immense, the main reason I haven't bought any white or black cables for my PC is purely because of the fact I still have the mess down by the PSU. Would pay good money for a set for my CoolerMaster (Although may not be most popular brand for PSUs)
He's right, and he's wrong. There's just too much PSU's out there, so for future references, please take the PSU talk out of the question. We're doing ONE pilot project - doesn't mean there's another one going on. Don't keep your hopes up that your PSU will be alchemy'd too, as I said, it's ONE pilot project that we're doing.

Crossfire Cable Kit?
4X 6+2 pin PCI-E
or
2x 6 pin PCI-E
By having a starter kit, it eliminates the need for a crossfire/sli set. A. All your basic cables would already be alchmey'd, B. You'll only need to get individual cables. People buying xfire/sli kits won't be able to seperate them.
how are they going to make 6+2 braided cables? the two extra ones would look wierd sticking out the side etc :)
Think of it as a "Y" cable on your headphone - except the splitting point is at the point where it joins the PSU's 6+2
__________

So far so good guys!

You're judging as much as I'm judging. Seriously, 45CM ontop of ~50CM+ the PSU provides. Which case? I'm not making a thread to ask for opinion, and then put up a bullet proof glass so I'll ignore suggestions. If there is a suggestion, great. I'm fine with it. We'll discuss it. No where did i say 50cm is impossible. However, changing the cable length would need to have the machining tools reworked, costing additional dollars to produce the same cable, only in different lengths. If the cables were the same length, and only the connectors needed to be changed, boy it'll be cheaper.

I may sound a little defensive at times. I'll apologize in advance. But I can guarantee you I'm trying to start a discussion. If something such as a length of a cable needs to be extended, great. Let me know which case in the market that our cables don't extend to, and we'll make a decision. I know for a fact that SATA needs to be extended.

It's ok. I'm fully aware of how forum members communicate with each other. There is ALWAYS mis-communication. I've been a forum member of NCIX for 4 years prior to this, so I know how a "typical" forum conversation is deployed (Heck, I still remember the 0/5 ratings on my posts because of my rants and how I talked - sadly, my defensive side always kicks in from this). OCUK, however, seems to be more open and more in depth, I would say. Great for for discussion!

These were announced in May 2011 by Tom @ OC3D. It took awhile to get here, but it has almost been a year :)

60cm... do you mind taking a picture of your build? typically motherboards and the HDD rack are relatively close to each other... unless you're doing a loop-dee-loop with a figure eight in there or something. :D :p
I take that back. some cables are 70-100cm long.. I'll definitely bring that length up.

Would mean sourcing capacitors too if you did ocz zx psus. To be honest with the sheer number of psu connection types between manufacturers I can't see how a 3rd party like bitfenix can produce all these different cable types and bring all the different skus to market :/. The only way I can see you doing it is if you were to only produce cables for popular psus.

And this was why, the thread was made to ask for opinion the extensions, not power supply cables. :o

Filtered PCI-E cables.
To eliminate PSU whine. The high frequency feedback from high fps plagues many people. Often replacing a PSU or GFX card is the only solution to them.

I used to be able to get filtered cables but no ones stocks them anymore.

Personally I don't care what the cable looks like, I just want a high quality one.
I'd also like to point something out for this. This is "high frequency feedback" that you hear, is called coil whine. It has nothing to do with the cable. It is caused by any hardware that is using the electricity. Walk by a hydroelectricity station, you'll hear it. Have an old CRT screen? Very likely you'll hear it. Sit in your living room at night time when it's quiet and you shut of your main switch for the power in your house, the missing sound is the coil whine from the electronics in your room. Filtering electricity will not eliminate this noise.
