What would your best layout be? Any ideas? Need to try get a fan in there to keep them cool!

It looks like your trying to build some sort of mini mega file server! If you have all those drives stacked up on top of each like that (which in itself i'm not sure if thats a healthy think to do) there going to make a lot noise. Do you know what PSU you going to use? Surely the amount of hard drives you can rais will be determined by how many sata power plugs you have.

Yep i've out grown my 1st NAS in a big way!

The stack was only to show, vibration, shorting heat stands out on that.

PSU is not a problem, i've a bag of 90* plugs to addon or redo the looms.

Firstly i'd rotate them... Then you could use a front fan to blow air over them.[/quote]

10 fit easy, 11 just thats all

I personally think you are asking for problems with vibration / heat in those disks.

I guess we all learn by our mistakes......this one might be a very costly one :)

Boys boys, they will be in the case like this at all.

Lets think about it shall we. How much effort it is to make a cage/desgin one for each possible layout and numbers of discs.

All im doing is a dry mount/run till i find the best layout for the 14 discs
