Has anyone used this case, what is it like for cooling?.
I am thinking of putting a Gigabyte ITX AMD board in with a Kaveri 7850K chip and cooled with a Corsair sealed liquid cooler.
Any input would be appreciated.

plenty have used this case, myself included
i found the cooling alright in it, i had a h100i in mine..
if you put a graphic card in it, i would defo stick with the vented side panel and not put the window panel on

Thanks for the advice about the side panel as I was looking at using a windowed side panel, will not be doing so now.

i have just built one and the stock fan is loud and i find the akasa venom fairly noisey. good airflow though when they all went.

i need some good, cheap quiet fans to make it 'silent'

If you are not using a dedicated graphic card, it is fine to use the windowed panel; it is only when you use a two slot graphic card that the windowed panel would become an issue as it would be right against the acrylic window with just few mm away from it, and it would struggle to get cool air to the cooler.

There are loads of other really great ITX cases about now which are much more refined than the prodigy
Have a look around before you follow the crowd

An APU ITX system in a Prodigy? Holy Wasted Space, Batman! If you're not going to use a dedicated GPU then you can get away with something really quite small. You also may not need the AIO water cooler either and go for a good, low-profile air cooler instead.

What's your full spec going to be? Case suggestions will be determined by the kit you're putting in.

Built my Girlfriends new gaming rig into a Prodigy, and one of the first things I didnt like was the solid front. Even with having a 230mm intake behind it, it really didnt do much. So my advice would be to get a meshed front cover ( which you can get from OC here ).

If you're not going to use a DVD drive, Go for x2 120mm intakes, and then exhause everything out the rear.

Full Spec,
GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XN-WIFI Graphics Card Socket FM2+
AMD A10 AD785KXBJABOX 7850K Black Edition with Radeon R7 Series New FM2+ Kaveri H
Crucial DDR3 PC3-12800 • 9-9-9-24 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600
MSI Radeon R7 260X OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Crucial M500 240GB mSATA Internal SSD
Seagate barracuda 500GB HD
Be Quiet 600w PSU.

So if not the Prodigy, what would be the best case for the above components.

I think you need to re-evaluate your spec somewhat.

If you're wanting a 260X then why are you using an APU? The CPU element may be quad core, but Steamroller is still underpowered, and you can't Dual graphics/Hybrid Crossfire with a 260X You'd probably be better off getting a Haswell i3 for better performance at the same money, and a matching motherboard will be about the same price too.

Plus, 600W PSU is totally overkill - a good quality 450W will be more than sufficient. Hell, a good 300W would be fine.

Add to that a Haswell i3 would be nice and cool so you wouldn't need a mental cooler.

Personally I'd look at a Mini ITX H81 board, Haswell i3 and wrap it up in a Sugo SG05. Put on a Noctua L9i cooler and you're away. And if you want a bit more breathing space get the Sugo SG05-450 as the bundled bronze-rated 450W PSU will run anything (I have the modular Gold rated one powering a i5 2500 and overclocked GTX Titan with no issues).

LePhuronn, thanks for your reply it has given me something to think about.
The Corsair cooler and the BeQuiet modular PSU were going to be carried over from my old system.
I picked AMD originally because I have nearly always used Amd, even though Intel chips are superior.
I also thought that you could dual graphic with the APU and card.
I obviously need to do a lot more research before I order anything.

i have mine up and running in my prodigy and it's all fine. i had a SG05 on an older build and it's a lot smaller than this case and not as nice, sides very flimsy.
i think you'll be fine. my a6-5400k and 6670 are running well. AMD catalyst gives the option of dual graphics. i haven't tested with a game yet though, will be doing that v.shortly.

Didn't use the stock fans so can't be of too much help, but used the mesh side and a Corsair H60 cooler and it's very cool with the Sapphire R270 even when running at full pelt.

Was easy to build with, although like most ITX cases space is an a premium so a modular PSU is a must.

I've got one, bought it as I was transporting my old tower case backwards and forwards lots and wanted to downsize. Now it's now massive by any means, but I was surprised how big it actually is when I got it. In terms of temps it's brilliant (mesh front, no window), nice to work in, but at this point I want to go back to a tower because of niggly things and just missing the options you get with a tower (extra 5.25" bay for a fan controller, can't fit any fans in the top with current optical drive, no room for SATA expansion due to gfx card).

It's a cracking case for the price, just doesn't suit the expansion I want to make at the moment without a lot of modding/re-purchasing.

Ah OK, in which case I'd suggest a Silverstone Temjin TJ08B-E (comes with and without window). It's smaller than a Prodigy, fits Micro-ATX boards (so your ITX spec will have plenty of space) and has great cooling with a 180mm Air Penetrator in the front and 120mm mount in the back (for your AIO).

Windowed version is on pre-order.
