BitFenix PSU's

I see a lot of people recommending BitFenix psu's on here. What's so a appealing about them? I'm after a 550-650w unit.

Like Tammzy says, they are quality psu's at a affordable price. Part of the reason that they are so affordable is because all the wires are fixed but it's not a problem if you have room to hide the spare cables. At your budget though I would be looking at the Seasonic Focus Plus or Antec High Current Gamer Gold units.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

The cheapest of these is actually the Platinum version of the Seasonic Focus Plus 550w as it's on offer this week for just £75 making it a no brainer if 550w is enough power. Review of the 550w Focus Platinum here.

The Antec High Current Gamer Gold 650w is built by Seasonic and is basically a Focus Plus Gold in a different case. The size, specs and 10 year warranty are all identical. Review of the 750w version here.

The NZXT is also a Seasonic built unit and is a modified Focus Plus with a added DSP so that you can monitor how much power is being drawn by different components using NZXT's CAM software. This appeals even to me!! It also has a 10 year warranty. Review of the 850w version here.

Also I didn't know BitFenix made PSUs.

They don't. Just like Corsair, EVGA, Antec and many others their psu's are built for them from one of the several OEM's. In the case of the Bitfenix Formula series the OEM is CWT who also make several psu's for Corsair.
