BitFenix Raider Case Improved Cooling -
Well just added the optional BitFenix Spectre PRO 200mm Fan to the top rear of the case and connected it to the fan controller with three 120mm fans. But have set the 200mm fan to pull the air in as well as the three 120mm fans, so giving the case postive air pressure just like a Silverstone FTO1 case. Even with the fan controller set to about half speed, l can still feel air movement going past my mobo and top 670 GPU[Sli 670]
Where prior to this l only had two front fans pulling air in and one rear fan pulling air out, also you get the benefit of cool air going down the rear of the mobo which can't be a bad thing. I'll add the optinal front 200mm fan later this month, replacing the two 120mm fans, rather pleased my fan controller works.
So when the other 200mm fan is fitted in the front, the case will be just about silent as l can just hear my pump. But hoping to make the pump quieter by securing it more frimly and a bit sound proving. I know that having the positive air pressure works as l have the FTO1 case with 180mm fans top rear plus bottom front. But also with the case being pressurised with the air leaving by any gap it stops dust coming in and having dust filters on the fans giving a cleaner dust free case.
By adding the optional 2x200mm fans the benefits are-
1 - Better cooling whether fans set to pull or push/pull when installed in the BitFenix Raider case by reducing temps, as they move a lot more air then the 3x120mm fans fitted as standard.
2 - Also reduced noise from your GPU fans as you should be able to reduce the speed of your fans using a fan profile due to better cooling. You can also remove the top HDD Bay of the bottom two so giving a better air flow towards the GPU's if in Sli or Xfire cooling the spot between the two GPU's.
3 - A cleaner case, with having a custom loop l would check my loop monthly and clean the fan dust filters plus case at the same time 20 minute,s at the most. Cleaning monthly was far better and quicker them leaving it for three months as we have two cats.
Remember to use the correct screw driver for the job in hand and here's two tips -
1 - Screw the fan screws into the correct hole's prior to fitting the fan make's the job a lot easier when the fan is in place to fit.
2 - Spray the screws with all purpose furniture cleaner, as the screws go in or out a lot easier as they do not grab the plastic.
