Bitfenix Recon Fan Speed Issues

Thought id put this here rather than hijack someone elses topic.

I have a Bitfenix recon, inside a prodigy case connected to 3 Spectre fans (Not the pro versions) There are 1x 230mm and 2x 120mm Channel 1,2 and 3 respectively).

You would think that with all items being Bitfenix that they would work but theres an issue with the speed staying level.

The idle temp of the machine is about 24c so the largest of the fans on chanel 1 tries to spin at 40% of its max speed. After a min orso the speed drops so low the recons alarm beeps and whacks it up to full speed, only for it to then attempt to drop to 40% and the cycle starts again.

Ofcourse i could artificlally heat up the temp probe by wrapping it in something to keep it warm as this would stop the fan from spinning so slow but there has to be a way around this. Did bitfenix not even test this product with their own fans?? Surely all it would take is a circuit that spins the fans at max and min RPM when the PC boots up to see where theyre stable, and then save this infomation in o a memory chip would stop this issue from happening.

iirc, the largest fan tries to drop to 400RPM if that helps, the two 120mm fans are fine however. Asside from this its a lovely unit, just wondered if anyone else had similar issues specefically with spectre fans... Im kinda wondering if a 230mm spectre pro suffers from the same problems, id hope not.

Thanks for the reply. I did really want to use that software bit also the USB connection to the recon seems to not work.

I have used the middle USB connector as your review sais to do and i receive nothing in windows saying a new piece of hardware is attached, the official software and the one you linked above cannot detect any device :(

Is a brilliant app from what ive seen from the coder and the (non working) copy i have.

I have just bought a new internal USB header cable aswell as a header to USB plug cable to see if my fault is the cable, the unit itself or the pins on the mobo. Need to wait for them to come from eBay.

The one or two times ive got a response from windows it was to say an attached device has malfunctioned and has been disabled. phoebetria just shows the icon red and cannot do anything as the unit isnt attached somehow, we will see with the new cable.

Just wish they'd fix the fans issue! sounds silly doesnt it, move the temp probes somewhere warmer so your fans cool properly....

Yes, i beleive it may be a fault with the unit unless im missing something. Im competant with this kinda stuff obviously, but ive tried ;

Uhe original USB header cable - Nothing
USB header to regular USB plug cable - Nothing
new USB header cable - Nothing

nothing shows in windows and no software can detect it. I havnt ran the official software at all as i wanted to use Phoebetria.

Il give it a go when im home.

Im in 2 minds whether to RMA the device or not. My PC is almost finished now, i have carbon fubre (white) wrapped the recon so it fits in with my case and also braided all the cables, really dont want to do all that again...

Just an update seeing as this has cropped up again, I kept the old recon because a few weeks later the white version was released, I moved the black one into my main PC and bought a white one for the PC I was building.

This worked great for 6 months orso until 1 day that recon USB died too. Ive no idea why it does it, but obviously one of the components either isn't protected properly or isn't built properly. Im very much hoping the recon 3 fixes this shortcoming
