BitFenix Recon Owners

That's good.

I'm having a new issue now.

I swapped out two of my Spectre Led fans for two non Led Spectre fans but they wont start up. I've tried playing with the RMP settings but they refuse to budge. Both fans work.

In the dialog box it was 200rpm as well, they should only go as low as 500-600 afaik.

Currently the software calculates what the minimum RPM *should* be (which is all theoretical nonsense really : -- querying the Recon doesn't give this answer so, like the Recon, it's "best guess")). Based on this I'm going to add to preferences items where you can set what the minimum RPM *must* be (independent of s/ware auto) to hopefully solve this problem -- I can't see why it won't.

Edit: in the meantime, set the Recon to Auto for a minute or so and let it do its calibration thing (this is what it does to work out the Max RPM, from which the min RPM is derived). I don't know if it'll help, but it might

I do apologise that this release may be causing problems for you. I really think that apart from the small slider-set-rpm bug it's a rock solid release. Once setting the manual RPM Phoebetria does nothing more than monitor (i.e. it sends the "set manual RPM to x" command and then just monitors), so I am really unsure if it's a Phoebetria problem (additionally none of that "set manual RPM" code has changed from the previous version -- except for the conversion of slider position to RPM). Nevertheless, I will do my best to solve your issues.

Sorry, my mistake. Somehow something was blocking the fan from working. That could explain the strange readings. All is well. :D

Geez, man... you were giving me a stress attack! :p :)

Edit: I can't sleep now... may as well drink some beer :D

Edit2: I will add you to acknowledgements: LtMatt, Great bug reporter (very descriptive) but leads one to drink :p LOL

Haha sorry man somehow some blue tac had got in there. :D

Its all working now, apart from the slider thing this build looks solid.

Have a drink on me. :)

If you need me to test any future build just shout.

I like your bug reports because they're specific, so for sure I will watch out for your feedback ;) If I am not on in the next few days, Merry Christmas!

PS: I'll have two drinks on you LOL and then go to sleep (almost 10PM here in AUS... early night, but it's been a big day)

Edit: Join the Beta programme on www.phoebetria.com! :D I'll post up the bug fixes and additional features based on your feedback today :) BTW I am going to write a manual. Or help files. One of the two.

Edit2: Blu-tac... not as bad as me... I had a fan suck in one of the probes ROFL

I'll definitely sign up later.

For now i need to get playing some games. Spent so much time fiddling with the computer the past two days i need to now put it and my new gpu cooler through its paces.

Merry xmas. :)

All done, I think Matt :)

To everyone else, Merry Christmas. Even though it's Christmas Eve here in Australia I've squashed a few bugs and improved software auto (there was a bad bug in there :() and Chris has made an Ubuntu package (I tested it on Mint and it works there as well). Very nice :). See you all in a day or so!

Edit: Or I may be here tomorrow... LOL :D

Quick question: Is there any way for software auto to use CPU temps rather than temps acquired from the probes?
If not, where are people having the best results when placing probes in a WC loop?

Using the motherboard sensors is something we have discussed, and was in the plan at the begining. Unfortunately during our reasearch we realized there doesn't seem to be a cross-platform library that exposes sensor data. We haven't completely dismissed this idea, but unless we can find a reasonable solution it remains at the bottom of our todo list.

As far as probe placement there are others here better suited to answering that, I have only recently deployed mine. I think it's really going to vary depending on your build and some trail and error :)

I'm about to install this fan controller, but on my last one I never used the probes. I found them useless and they never stuck to whatever I put them too. Do I really need to use them? The biggest reason I bought this controller was because of profiles. The Aerocool does look better,,but doesn't use profiles.

Just installed the recon and the profiles are very cool. Much easier then manually changing the fans every time I game. It did my head in sometimes. I only need 2 profiles 1 for gaming and 1 for browsing the net. Your software works a treat. Keep up the updates. Thanks guys:)

You're welcome. Next version has a load profile menu (and the same load profile menu as a tray icon context menu) so you can quickly switch ;)
