Launching today, we have the brand new Formula PSU range from Bitfenix. Following on from the success of the Whisper M, Bitfenix have introduced the Formula series as a more cost effective option, without compromising on quality. The Formula comes in 4 wattages from 450W - 750W, with pre-wired cabling. They are produced by CWT, same as the Whisper M, and have very similar technical features. For a start, a quiet 120mm FDB fan is supplied as standard, that is capable of 500RPM operation, along with a custom fan grill design for low resistance. This means that at around 60% load, the Formula only produces 18dB(A). The technology inside will please the PSU purists, with Active PFC and LLC resonance conversion on the primary range, along with DC-DC down conversion on the secondary. Indeed, the Formula actually has a custom PCB design, rather than relying on a manufacturers existing design. Capacitor use is Japanese 105 degree electrolytic & polymer solid throughout.

The full suite of protections (OPP, OTP, OVP, UVP, SCP, OCP, SIP & NLO) prove even further how impressive the Formula series are for the money. Added to that, the Formula series comes with a 5 year warranty as standard, along with comprehensive connector support throughout the range. They are not even up on the RealHardtechX psu database yet!! Prices are competitive and nice to see no shroud on the 24 pin plug this time. They need to get rid of it on the Whisper M units too because it puts some people off what is otherwise a excellent psu.
 
Look like very good units, 450W seems a bit much but the 550W and above are very well priced. With PSU shrouds being so prevalent, non modular designs aren't too bad either.

Would love a 7 year warranty but 5 years is ~£1.10 a month.
