I bought a 120mm BitFenix Spectra Pro Blue LED fan and on 2 occassions, it appears to not spin up. I can jump it by giving the blades a poke and it's fine.

The LED's are powered on when this happens.

Any ideas?

Maybe your fan voltage is too low to get it started? Is it mounted on a fan controller? That being said both the Spectre Pro non-LED I have here start up at fairly low voltage.

what voltage are you starting it on?

Simple physics, starting something on low voltage is harder to do than to start something with high voltage and then bring it back down.

hmmm....I always start it on low. Will see what it's like when boosted up a bit.

Low is probably too, well, low to get the fan started. What you need is a fan controller that starts your fans up at full speed and then settles down to slow after a few seconds, or just do it yourself.

hmmm...that's what I was trying to aviod!

Not sure how you could cause the fan to initially start fast and slow down without implementing a fan controller or manually setting things.

Bitfenix Recon does. Not sure if this is a common feature across all digital fan controllers.

My PWM to 3pin converter also starts fast and slows down, this is the normal behaviours of many PWM motherboard circuits.
