[BitFenix] Support and Discussion Thread!

Is there any reason per say why the factory couldn't simply not stamp? I'm guessing it's more complex than just turning the machine off...

Also, does this mean that it's going to have the Colossus, double fan grill, window?

kd

Precisely.

The chassis isn't a bad option despite the window. The price, the features, it's support for water, supercharge port, and softouch (not your regular plastic) outweighs it's current flaws. It's a work of art, and if a review (an opinion of an editor) gives it a silver rather than a gold, we're not going to stop sending stuff out to review. As a business stand point, we announce the chassis, made promises to meet deadlines to ship things out, and if a change such as this was every so slightly possible, we'll try before the deadline.

To answer your question to why grills are there in the first place, with our original Colossus, the grills help increase airflow when they were used. Depending on the fans used on grills, it won't disrupt airflow.

Hmm, fair enough, I must say I'm particularly intrigued by the softouch, and I guess worst case scenario, as I've already mentioned it's not the hardest thing in the world to cut one yourself out of a non-windowed version, or replace the acrylic in a windowed version.

Again, it does take a long time to finalize and compromise things. Despite taking just a little bit more than a month, rather than 3, David and the rest of his design team has tried to make ends meet and was pretty close. I usually see him on BitFenix forums every week at the least. I haven't seen him on it for over a month - which shows how busy he is.

Hopefully I've made myself a little bit more clearer than my first post, and it doesn't change your mind on how Shinobi XL actually performs rather than how it looks - cause you all know how we'd like the window.

Ah well, I guess we can always change the aesthetics if needs be.

Anyway ideas.

What kind of accessories are we expecting to come to the Shinobi XL? Similar kind of thing to the current Shinobi? Coloured badges etc...?

As an idea, it would be really quite cool if you released like a backlit version of the logo for the cases. Not sure if the Bitfenix logo is the same size on all cases, but if it is it would be so cool. A bit like the Shinobi Mesh colour options, if you could do that with badges it would be nice.(backlit or not this would be nice) As already said, what would be really cool is if you could make it so that it had a couple of LED's in it.

Alongside the LED idea, I can't quite remember if it was the Spectre LEDs that I read already did this, but if you could make it so that LEDs were 'easily' switchable. By which I mean, it's not too hard to remove them from the mounting holes and replace them with perhaps a different colour LED when we get bored. I realise that we'd have to desolder to get something like this to work, but it would still be pretty cool :)

can someone at bitfenix look at doing a basic sleek looking big case like you had early 90s maybe . a lot like just simple looking big cases but with none of the bs attached .

no one seems to do these cases much more except highend and they cost a fortune ;)

reasonable big case with good layout would be a winner

black case black insides . no rubber on front just keep it simple

Accesories for the XL would be the same with the Shinobi's. Case logo colors would fit both the Shinobi and Shinobi XL.

Everything else I can send in to the product team.

Our current Alchemy LED line up can easily hide behind the front and top mesh strips.

After finalizing a product, changing things is quite impossible, so the most we can do is write it down and consider it for future chassis.

The Shinobi/Shinobi XL is as simple and basic as it gets with no fancy stuff attached. Flat front panel, flat top panel, and it's smooth softouch. 140 is actually the lower end of the large case market, so anything lower would really be very poor quality.

I find it so brilliant that a company Rep will actually come to a forum and speak to end users of its products and actually listen to Valid input.

I applaud Bitfenix, XbourneX and Kul1 for their hardwork thus far :) Long may they keep it up, maybe some of the other manufacturers should take note of this.

Cant wait to see some End User reviews on the Shinobi XL

Lian Li make nice big spacious subtley designed cases, however theyre pricing is astronomical. And black interiors are only available on some of their range. My main gripe with my own LL, bare internals.

Are the alchemy 8 pin pcie extensions a straight 8 pin or are they 6+2?
Theyre a straight block of 8 unfortunately.

why if cheaper does it have to be poorer quality ?

this is what i was on about. big cases dont cost a extra fortune to make probably few more quid each yet they double/3 times in price. all case makers do the same and was the reason i said what i said ;) a reasonable priced big case and 140 isnt really reasonable for a pc case (yes it maybe cheaper than other big cases or same as Xigmatek ) .

tell me how much more it is for a big case than a normal to manufacture and ill buy one :) if you can show it cost at least double id be happy to buy one . we know that isnt the truth and basically the 140.00 case at best cost you 30-40 max !

A cheaper case, means a manufacturer has to cut down somewhere. Usually the metal or plastic quality. Due to the larger size than a mid tower, larger pieces of metal will flex, bend, or warp if it's lower quality. It will not withstand the wrath of shipping. Nor will it withstand the components of what goes into the big case. That is why, it's priced higher.

(Surely, SUV's should cost just a little bit more than a sedan. Just a little more metal right? Unfortunately, that's not the case...)

Cost of any product, no manufacturer will discuss this.

exactly ! because it costs a few quid more to make (than normal sized case) but is shipped out at 3 times the cost ;) understand you in business but just cause its bigger it doesnt need to cost as much.

I think you're missing the point.

My belief is that due to the larger sizes of 'full-tower' cases, high grade metal has to be used. It won't just be a few quid increase in cost. Not to mention the fact that higher-end cases are expected to have 'frills' and the such like...

However, to xbourne, as a side point to improvement. I may have already suggested it, but please split up HDD bays. I think it's going to be a bit of a bummer to have to completely remove the drive bays to fit a rad in the bottom :(

Anyone have 200k to start the process? :D

RE: hard drive cage: That's the first thing I said when the told me about the case (window came afterwards). I give them my opinion, but that's usually after they are released and so my opinion goes towards future products. We've noted that down ;)

Hello xbournex..sorry to be going off topic but hope you can help me out here. Since the Hydra LED controller is being phased out when are we looking to see a replacement? I've got my Spectre Pro Fans along with the Alchemy Cables and just want to finish it off with a quality LED fan controller :)

Yeah I mean I'm not sure. About HDD cage. On the one hand the split ones I've seen are really unattractive, but on the other hand, if say you went watercooling... Dual bay res, optical drive isn't unreasonable which would mean a max of two HDDs and maybe an SSD mod mounted elsewhere... Bit limiting :(

Also, do you know whether the 360 front rad impedes on the optical drives at all?

Shame the hydra led is being phased out if true above though, although guess its a limited product...
