Bitly Custom URL

I have purchased a Domain name through Vidahost to use with Bitly, I have updated the DNS to point to Bitly. This seemed to work fine as now when I go to my domain it loads the Bitly website.

The problem I have is when I log into Bitly and click verify I get the following:

Short Domain verification failed for "DOMAIN REMOVED". Neither an A Record nor a CNAME record was found.

I am guessing because my domain loads the Bitly site fine that I have set it up correctly? The domain was only registered at lunchtime, could it be the DNS taking its time to update everywhere?

I thought bitly was just a way to have short URLs?

You need to have your own website setup and running then a short bitly address forwards to that. Makes it easier to post links on twitter, etc.

Bitly allows you to use your own domain name to shorten URLs which was what I was trying to setup. All seems to be working fine now though
