Bizarre Creations Closes Today

Their biggest mistake was going to Activision while slagging off Microsoft and giving them two fingers up. Bizarre burnt their bridges like retards, Bizarre chose their new partners like retards. The way they handled the change was so diabolical and heavily steeped in irony.

Best of luck finding new jobs.

I know that I personally didnt like any of their games, but the point is that another games company from the UK is gone.

What point then?
You didn't like their product, now they are gone.
Thats how supply and demand works.
Hardly a sad occasion for you if you never bought or supported them, why publicise their demise, or be unhappy at their passing, they held no influence for you.
Company produced stuff you didn't want, bad luck to the company.

Just to clarify, I haven't played any/many of their games, and am neutral on the companies performance. I just find it odd that someone who didn;t like their games can be so upset at their demise.

Me saying I didnt like any of their products, didnt mean I thought they were a bad company. I am a student in my 3rd year of a computer games design course and I am currently looking for a job. I was looking everywhere in the UK for a job as I am willing to move to where the work is. If a UK games company shuts down, that means that there will now be less jobs in the UK for me to find and less games being made in the UK in general. Thats why I was concerned.

Again, didnt like didnt mean I hated them. Maybe I should have said I was completely neatural about their products? I just didnt get drawn to any, not that I didnt actually like them.

Activision and new IP doesn’t compute. Unless you produce a 10 million dollar or more COD clone or something Activision will just throw you to the wolves.

That is what the games industry, in particular on consoles is turning into: AAA or bust. Publishers putting more and more pressure and hype (and money) on their developers (be it internal studios, separate in terms of name/location, or entirely seperate developers). So much rides on each project that if it doesn't meet expectations, it all hits the fan.
And when I say expectations, often such 'failures' sell relatively well, they just don't hit this mythical several million milestone that is required by the big publishers to justify its continuation as a series.

With Bizarre, I understand Blur wasn't that highly marketed by Activision (no idea personally), which would be a large reason to it being deemed unsuccessful. Blood Stone was the last game they made I believe. Highly marketed from my perspective, just not well recieved on the massive sales levels expected by Activision, or in terms of opinions. Probably the straw that broke the camels back and assured the closure of Bizarre.

Sad for the many who have lost jobs, hopefully they can find work elsewhere in the industry.

gutted. Bizzare had some great talent and obviously we need more UK companies.

I hope this serves a warning to other smaller companies about jumping into bed with a corporate devil like Activision. They are single handily destroying this industry. Until people stop buying all their rubish sequels it qwill always be like this.

time for a boycott

Crazy they made some great games, can't belive a company like this was left to close how on earth did no one step in?
