Ok i'm slightly worried. Earlier, I had been meddling with my cooling set up, and then closed up my case, reconnected it, switched everything on perfectly fine. Then a couple of minutes later i switch my speakers on. The control center goes absolutely beserk, starts spurting random characters up on the screen, and changing levels causes a series of 2's and 6's to occur on screen, whatsomore, sound output was only going for a few seconds at a time. Speakers even kept turning off. I thought, uh oh, time for RMA, then decided to disconnect my SPDIF cable. Funnily enough, after this I noticed the motherboard sound software no longer recognised the SPDIF out, only the optical out, so i dug out a toslink cable and connected that. speakers starting working fine, then after a few minutes, sound becomes heavily distorted and cuts out again, but without the jumbled characters. After this i unplug all the digital outs from the speakers to the computer. Test it back on again, and before the remote wasn't working or getting a response either, now the remote works fine, and the analogue output works fine, no more random characters or cuts. Test the digital output on the ps2, again perfect working order. So im guessing the digital signal from my motherboard somehow did this, and now the digital outs on my motherboard are dead.. what do u guys think happened?!

this sounds like a strange one :-S

I have to hand it to logitech support though, there telephone support is brilliant and the RMA is also brilliant. Im sure if u did send the speakers back to them due to the fact u had crazy characters on the screen they'd possible receive a new control unit. or whatever, and see if this helps.

As for the mobo i have no idea *** could have caused this!

Matt.

Hey dude!

I have the exact same problem when I'm using analogue in... works fine via optical on however...

I've also managed to solve it completely by installing an 80mm fan on the decoder. When it hangs and starts displaying random characters I switch it on and literally within 1-2 seconds the display returns to normal, music starts playing again and everything returns to normal. I'm finding it very strange and annoying.
