Hi,
For the past 2-3 weeks I've started to suffer massive screen corruption in 2D/3D mode and the BIOS since reinstalling Windows 7. However the problem only occurs randomly, sometimes the system is stable, sometimes it won't get into Windows which is the bizarre part I cannot get my head around.
It first started when playing the BC2 BETA as you can see in THIS video (Don't watch if you suffer from epilepsy).
The corruption then began to appear in 2D mode as you can see in THIS picture & THIS picture. I reinstalled windows to be greeted by similar corruption upon the first boot. There's also been a few times where corruption is clearly visible in the BIOS as can be seen HERE, HERE and HERE.
There is nothing in particular that triggers the corruption, it happens totally at random. I've disabled any overclocks, tried different drivers, updated my motherboard BIOS and its no different. Last night I couldn't use my PC at all as it was constantly corrupting then crashing. Today its absolutely fine and nothing has been changed. I've ran OCCT GPU test, Furmark, several games which 0 corruption and no crashes. I've also tried running Prime95 in the background when doing GPU tests to see if it could be the power supply but its been fine so far today.
Last night when it corrupted in the BIOS I swapped the 4870x2 with a 3450 and it worked fine in the BIOS and Windows, put the 4870x2 back in and the BIOS corruption was back. I have tried the 4870x2 in my other PC but it refused to POST, no idea why as the PSU should be adequate (OCZ 600W).
My problem now is that the 4870x2 is working OK and I've just ordered a new GPU (5870) as I thought this was about to die
Apologies for the long post but I've tried to explain most of what I've experienced.
Ideas, advice, suggestions? as I'm totally confused with what's going on now.
Thank you!
