Bizarre hard drive reading non-stop....

I need to find why a pc I have here will just sit there constantly reading the hard drives when every other pc I have doesnt do it. It needs to be dealt with but I havent had the time to get bogged down with it. The pc runs XP SP2 with the same config as all the other pc's apart from it not being on any network and hasnt got access to the internet. Its odd tbh, this isnt the random thing where sometimes the o/s will do a bit of file keeping or whatever this is constant like im running a bit torrent client or recording music etc...

I dont know where to start tbh, wiping the o/s is my first step and then figuring out what nasty stuff could be hiding. Has anyone ever had the same thing going on before? I have nosed around all over it trying to suss out what could be running but I cant find nothing

is it perhaps the windows update "search 4.0" or whatever its called indexing your drive?

Have a look at which processes are running in task manager for starters to see if there's anything amiss.
