Don't quite know if this is the right forum, but it's a problem while I use windows, so I'll try in here!

Basically, for ages now, every now and again on my computer, there's two swooshing/swishing sounds that happen consecutively in the background while I'm doing anything on my computer. They probably happen like once every hour, but it's variable, and I can go quite a while without hearing it at all, and I can go an hour and hear it a few times.

It happens when I watch a movie, play music, browse the web...or even when I'm not doing anything so I don't quite know where on earth it's coming from...but I'm getting rather bored of it happening.

Any ideas of where on earth it could be coming from?

Thanks in advance.

disable system restore

run...

ccleaner slim
nod32 trial
spybot s&d
adaware se (might have to hunt a bit for the defs.ref file)
avg antispyware (remove this after)

if you're still having problems, run hijackthis and post the log here

Is it coming from the speakers or somewhere else? Just asking as it could be a HDD spinning up/down which is what mine do the whole time on Vista for some reason.

First port of call would be to sounds and audio in the control panel so see if it's any of those. This is assuming it's a sound from your speakers since you're posting in this forum.

the minimize sound?

I've already said it happens when I'm not even touching the computer.

Almost certainly from the speakers. I've had my computer for about three years, and it's only started happening recently (relatively speaking).

I don't have a sound scheme running in Windows.
