OK getting bored of css/bf2, so I thought I'd give this a whirl, never played an rts before and I'm really loving it :D However, last night at the end of the Nors (sp) world, it crippled my computer into defeat and my monitor couldnt get a signal :/

What the? I didin't think B&W2 was that graphically powerfull. YEs I was running it at max, but with a 7800gt oc, amd64 at 2.5 and 2gig of ram, it eats everything I've thrown at it... And b&w2 aint really "new".

I do admit, there was a lot of stuff happening, (sun setting, lights all over the map, thousands of people walking about armies attacking and blah) but still. Even after it crippled my pc, I booted it back up and it just blackscreened and cut to dekstop, havent tried it this morning but I will sooon.

Patched b&w2 to 1.2 i think, I'll have a look now see if there are anymore.

Just seemed odd so I thought I'd post it :)

Also If rather in general hardware? Mod move please ;)

Its a terribly buggy game, and is only a couple of months old!

It is more taxing that you think, due to the rendering distances and the amount of calculations RTS games do, economy, all the walking paths for the villagers etc.

Its buggy, simple as and I have not been able to keep it stable enough to complete it :(

Hopefully they will release a new patch soon, but if it is anything to go by from the original, will be this time in 2007 by the time it is playable on XP.

Yup, it's a swine. I haven't played it for a while because it crashed and I lost a chunk.....I'm finding it hard to find the motivation now :( It's also crashed on the wife's PC as well.....it's just so unstable. I remember when B&W1 crashed and corrupted all my saved games as well. Grrrr.

I got near to the end, then my graphics card broke (surprised surprise it was while i was playing black and white 2) and the game takes about 10 minutes to actually get in game and stop being laggy (and my PC isn't slow at all, 3.4ghz with a 6800GT and 1024mb ram, more than enough) so i just gave up on it, i can't be bothered waiting 10 minutes to get into a game, and then crashing out, or having a major bug, maybe one day i'll get back to it.

I'm on the last land, and the clock slows right down when my hand is over the centre village. it didnt do it to start, but does it now. I move the god hand out of the village influence, and the gmae clock goes triple speed to catch up. Unplayable, no matter what settings I play it on.
I got AMD x2 4400 and 7800 gtx... I cant believe it.

Wow so many people with problems on this machine, its crashed maybe 10 times on me and I've completed it about 3 times now, I have 2 creatures an Ape and a Tiger.

Loved the game really easy to play and you can play at your own pace through most of the game.

Just a little update, been playing with NO issues whatso ever, just screen res at 12x10 not 16x12 :)

Been leaving it on all day, all tabbing to it *REALLY need to find a config tweak for windowed mode... actually, does anyone know of it?* with no problems, quick desktop to game time too :)

Try this for windowed mode, doesn't work for all games but a lot of them do work.

1. Find the shortcut for the computer game you want to play in windowed mode instead of full screen.

2. Right click on the shortcut, select Properties.

3. In the Target field add: -window at the end.

4. Click OK.
