i was wondering if anyone might know why i have a black boarder going around my screen? it happened on both the TV i am on now and the 42inch LCD(i think) TV that i was on just a minute ago - i had the resolution at 1900 x 1080 on both but the black boarder is there ALL the time, throughout web browsing, desktop stuff and during games any idea on why i have it and how to get rid of it?

also will i get this when i get my monitor? or is it down to using a TV as my display?

he was gettin a post in before someone comes in and says "the black border is the bexel on the monitor..."

Most likely you need to adjust the size of the picture on your tv, same as you did on non auto adjusting screens back in the day.

menu>screen>size&position or something similar.

also, res should be 1920*1080 btw.

What graphics card are you using?

I have had similar issues when using hdmi/dvi attached tv's on my ati cards before. In the ATI control panel there is a section labelled "DVI" (I think) which give properties of the attached TV/Monitor.

Check in there to see if there is a scaling option. Try adjusting that to 0%. Depending on the TV (and if it scales itself or does a 1:1 mapping) that should sort it out. I believe nvidia has something similar in it's options/configuration page too.

You may have to check out the options on the TV itself to see if you need to enable a "1:1" mode, sometimes called "tru-fit" or other such names.

yeah ATI has an overscan facility thats what you need, dont know if or what nvidia's is called but guessing something similair.

Im guessing your using HDMI :)
