*****BLACK FRIDAY 2017**** Deal thread

Just got back yesterday from Florida and sampled the American black Friday version. Picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016 model) for £124 in our money, opened box but not touched, noticed they were £179.99 in UK but $187 inc. tax in Usa, £143 in our money new so very pleased with that. Wife got one of those Fire HD10 tablets for $99.99 (£81inc tax) and they were £109.99 in UK. So although we have 20% vat they are still more expensive here when compared. As for tvs was in Walmart and they had a sharp 55" 4K TV for $318(£244) and an LG 55" 4K TV for $328(£252) and amazingly an LG UP875 4K UHD 3D Blu-Ray player for £81, had it in my hand but wasn't sure I could fit it in my luggage, ($99.99 + 6% sales tax etc). Couldn't find any deals as good as that here sadly. Before flying home from Miami had time to go to a huge mall but tried for an hour to get parked and couldn't so had to give up, never seen so many people in my life was absolutely crazy. Consolation was the weather 81-85F for the whole holiday, got home to Glasgow Airport and it was bloody Baltic, never felt so cold.

I posted earlier in the thread but worth repeating, I got the Panasonic 58EX700b for £599 on Friday. I was hoping to get the 50" version for that but the 58" was strangely the same price. Looking today and I wonder if John Lewis actually messed up, the site has the same quoted £260 off, but now the price is £799. 58" for under 600 quid ... happy.

Yeah I'm gutted because I was thinking they've messed up too

I had to mock it on the wall with masking tape after to show relative sizes.....luckily she agreed as I'd already purchased it by then :p

I have to say I was a little unsure myself, 58" is big.

It is a mine field buying TV's. I didn't want to spend a fortune but specifically wanted something that was good with motion for gaming (PS4) and 5.1 PASS through for Sonos sound bar, the latter of which is a nightmare to find information on. As I was researching I found that on some ranges the spec changes as you go up in screen size and then some places (Currys) seem to have their very own model. I was determined not to buy another Samsung so I was originally thinking LG but then you read all this business about RGBW and it puts you off. Sony and Panasonic seem the safe ports but neither are really the budget option. I think Roadie did well above, the Sony 55XE8596 was on my short list but never saw it for the price he got.

I'm reluctant to buy a new TV until OLEDs come down in price. I've got an LED Samsung Smart TV but I prefer the more organic and natural image my 10 year old Plasma provides.

Managed to get richersounds to price match Vaughnes at£1350 on an lgb7 today, got the last one my branch had in stock although new and sealed,if I'm lucky might get to open box before bed tonight!

Sorry that should be vaughans! And still showing in stock at £1350,honestly know little about them other than they appear to have about 6 shops in wales.

All this weekend - BF and CM I have been back and forth about the LG B7 vs Sony XE9005 LCD. And today I went for the Sony as it was a hell of a good price here in Sweden. Several thousend (Kr) cheaper then on BF. Glad I waited. I got it for 10K = 10 000 SEK!
Feel so good to step up from my old plasma from 2010.
The new telly will be awesome for my PS4 PRO that I ordered on BF, cant frikking wait for that HDR 4K goodness :D

Excellent! :D

I've just had a thought....

I haven't opened the wireless speaker kit yet as I haven't had time.

What do you think would happen if I returned those too? And then re-bought them from somewhere else for £100 cheaper.....? is that taking it a bit far?

Edit: fitted the speakers now. I think returning them would be pushing my luck. I've had a great deal so leaving it at that. Have you set your speakers up yet?

I believe people on HUKD did return the rear speakers too, but I wanted them so I kept them. More than happy with the final price I paid anyway.

Yeah my rears are set-up, was very easy, although having to install the wireless module on the soundbar was a bit annoying, they should have just build that in. They work well though, I can't say I've noticed any delays or interference or anything. mine are quite close to the back of my sofa, they'd probably benefit from being a bit farther back you can easily turn the rear levels down to suit your tastes.

hmmm. My sofa is against the wall and I 'm going to mount them on there too. I've bought some adjustable brackets for them so hopefully i'll be able to manoeuvre them into a decent position. Have you found any decent guidance on placing these? Even the instructions don't really allude to an optimum height/distance?

I have storage units behind my sofa so I just put the speakers on there at either end pointed diagonally towards the middle of the sofa a bit, works well enough. I think if your brackets are adjustable you should be able to get them set up how you want them with a bit of tweaking.

Ordered a LG55B7 from Fenwicks Newcastle today for £1349. They also had the LG55E7 for £1619. Both currently in stock and offer ends on Sunday. They have interest free credit if required too.

All prices with a green dot next to them had 10% off.

Tips for how to PC game on these then? Got my LG UW connected via DP to my 290 and the TV to the HDMI port of the 290.

Is there any way I can easily switch to TV when wanting to watch/play a game/film from the PC and keeping the monitor active at the same time? Atm, I can only seem to clone/mirror the monitor to the TV or only have 1 display active or an extended display :/

@VincentHanna

EDIT:

Also is there an easier/automatic way of getting audio to switch to the tv speakers when content is on the tv rather than having to change via windows settings every time I want to flick between PC/monitor and TV?

the LG terms and conditions give them the power of telepathy, they just confirm with Lewis's that a price match that already included an LG reduction is not also going to be applied - no ?
No

The purchase price was £2499

Stated on the invoice from JL

Thats it.

Under T&C's LG just confirm with 3rd party Lewis there is no price match already including cashback pending for that customer before granting the cashback for a second time.
