Black Friday/cyber Monday - what would count as worth buying?

So the annual "it's discounted honest" festival approaches. As someone looking for a graphics card at a sane price I'm hoping that there might be real deals.

But what would you guys consider an actually good deal? Is there anything you're looking for - certain cards at a specific price point, or "anything decent at..." or... what? I'm trying to determine my buying decision points before the day, so I don't do anything rash...

What budget are you looking at?

Hugely flexible, up to 1.5k if I think it's got value. Which is the problem - current prices feel like there's no value? Would run on a 5800x3D, 1440x3440.

That would certainly be plausible. And I don't think it feels like a rip off - should certainly manage anything raster shaped for a few years. Now I just have to find it.

If the 4080 drops low enough I am going to jump on one but I can see the 7900xtx being an even better value proposition so I am torn!

What makes the xtx better for you?

I'd say value, as in pound for pound. Would you disagree? As in do you think the 4080 is 2/300 pounds well spent over the XTX? I'm open to reason before dropping my well-earned...

I probably wouldn't disagree, but I was wondering if you had a specific use case in mind.

Looking for a 4060 Gaming laptop.

Will be plugged in 90% of the time on the 4k TV or the monitor.
