The mrs got me one of these for my birthday and after getting it set up and downloading the latest drivers i cant get it to do anything.

I was wanting to use it for capturing the ps3 and the 360. The 360 via hdmi and the ps3 via component HD.

Anyhoo to cut a long story short where im at is its in the system and when its connected to the xbox and switched on in the media preview instead of being able to see the xbox dash all i get is a black screen.

If its any help im running a q9550 on an asus x48 rampage board, ati 4850 gfx card. Its also running windows 7.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Grab a copy of VirtualDub - http://www.virtualdub.org/

1. File > Capture Avi
2. Device > Decklink Video Capture
3. Video > Capture Filter (Specify the correct resolution of your input device)
4. Video > Compress (Select MJPEG 8bit)
5. Capture > Capture Video

Simple as that really.

in the blackmagic control panel have you set the input and output to HDMI?

also in the Media Express Preferences have you set the correct res that you are using

it should be HD 720 at 59.94 or HD 1080 at 59.94 depending on what res your xbox is set to display at.

also a note you have switched the media express windows to the Capture tab

The tutorial i went through said that 59.54 was the american standard or something. Ive been trying input and output as hdmi as thats what im doing and the xbox is set to 720p which runs at 50hz. Got the capture tab bit right lol.

theres a tutorial that may help ]on youtube if its not the one you've been using already.

for my PS3 its HD 720 59.94 and a lot of posts i have read its the same for the xbox but may also depend on what Hz your tv is running at, have you gone through all the different option in the Preferences panel?

why not use hdmi with ps3?

The PS3 has HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) which encrypts the data from the HDMI out of the PS3. The intensity pro cannot decrypt the data (legal junk). So component has to be used as it is not encrypted.
