Hi, I am looking at replacing my 13 year old Acer with an Aspire 3 or an Asus Vivobook 15. One has black keys and the other white keys. I use my laptop at my desk in an area of the lounge that is not particularly bright day or night. I am thinking of getting black keys again and a small angle lamp or go for the white keys. Has anyone had experience of both and which was more enjoyable and easier to work with. TIA. jack

Hi Pepp77, thanks, a very good point. I have found some reviews which state that the lettering on the keys can be difficult to see so I have decided to get a black or dark grey keys and a cheap angle lamp. Thanks again. jack

White for me. With black keys you might always assume they're dirty because you can't tell. With white keys you know when it's dirty and can clean it.

What sort of typing ability do you have?

Backlights might help if you need to be able to view the keyboard, I actually turn them off on my board more often than not as I touch type. I wouldn't go white as they're going to be a nightmare to keep them clean looking compared to black, it's not like you can pop the keycaps off to easily clean a laptop board. Even beyond that, I suspect general wear/use will show up more quickly than black, regardless and assuming it's purely aesthetic concerns go with whatever you feel looks best if the potential issues don't concern you.
