Black Screen After O/C

Hi, I attempted to o/c my CPU, I changed the multiplier to 40, then reset, to Black Screen, I had to reset CMOS, to boot.
Why?

Sorry, I didn't mean to be too flippant. But generally an unstable overclock can need to be reversed this way as you can't POST. It's a nightmare if you do it with graphics cards!

Yes. you are correct.

You may be able to get it to pass POST by using a lower multiplier, or increasing the voltage to the CPU slightly - different CPUs have different voltage limits, so be careful - and Intel ones tend to be lower than AMD ones.

There isn't an option to adjust the voltage, it stays on auto.

You've changed the multiplier to 40x without changing the CPU VCore Control to 1.25V.

You can't leave it to auto - turn off vdroop.

What I was doing wrong was selecting instead of just typing over the entry. All is good now and O/Ced!
