Black screen and clicks from new 6870

I've just tried my new 6870 on a working mobo, the GIGABYTE EP43 DS3.
On startup, i'm getting;


click.....click......click.....click.......BEEEEEEEP...BEEP..BEEP. (1 long 2 short)



It's on a brand new PSU(600w) as well. Memory is working, as is motherboard and CPU.



Any ideas?



I've tried a CMOS reset and reseating the GPU.

Which 6870 is it? What PSU model do you have?

According to the motherboard manual, the 1 long 2 short beeps show a monitor or graphics card problem.

You have definitely plugged in the pci-express cables to the graphics card right ? not being patronising

Sapphire 6870 and a brand new OCZ600MXSP which is confirmed working.
